The Ongoing Seminary Saga
I have been asked repeatedly for another update. The following is my story... No, the house has not sold. We still are getting 2-3 people a week. Last week we have a gentleman look twice but Anne doesn't think he was interested based on his mom's comments (she was in the yard with the kids. Generally she leaves during showings.) We had a no show today but that was okay as we had a picnic barbecue. (I'm simplifying the experience as it also involved Anne leaving with Alice to go to hospital for some major indigestion cramping, later having Anne and Alice come back and chow on barbecue.) In reaction, we lowered the price on Friday to $164k from $169k. In the last 80 days, 8 homes sold in our area which were 3 bed, 1.5 bath. The average listing price was $163.6k and the average sale price was $160.8k. The average time on the market was 73 days (we're at 71 now.) So, it made sense to be in line with these and see if we have better results. In addition, 6 homes are currently on the market like ours, 4 are under contract with the average sale price of $167k and 106 days on the market. This looks good to us. In the event we don't sell, Anne might as well live here and I can find habitat in the dorms. This is not ideal and throws a couple of wrenches, so I'm trying to avoid this. Those include mortgage problems and the financial stress. I shouldn't forget to mention not seeing the kids and Anne. Hopefully, we'll close in the next 3-4 weeks. We had all sorts of challenges this week hit us. Anne needs some major dental work (root canal, a few on-lays, and two crowns) and my recording hard drive crashed bad before I could get everything off it. The recording project that I started a year ago was on it. We may send it off to be recovered which is not a cheap venture. Work has been quite the stressor as well but when I'm busy, I'm making an income (so I tell myself!) Not all was bad though. I was able to resolve all the issues I had with the new Mac OS X called "tiger". It is a pretty minor update but had a few little things and a bit GUI interface speed increase that will keep me "suffering" along with this eMac instead of lusting after a nice G5 iMac or Powermac. It feels good to accomplish something positive! With everything, I have not started to prepare for Greek. I should be. That's it for now, time to relax and watch a flick. Chris
