House and more
It's been quite the emotional roller coaster the last few days. We found the disappointing results last week in regards to the plumbing and roof. I asked the seller to replace the piping, correct some electrical issues and do the roof. They came back with doing the electrical only so I said "deals off." Yesterday they called and said they do want the deal to go through and will do the electrical, replace all the lead pipe (including the inlet from the city?) and would tear down the garage. Bizarre?! I said, don't worry about the garage (I'll use it for a shed. Maybe its salvagable?) and lets close tuesday. They are doing all the work this weekend so we can close tuesday. I went from excitement, to despair over loosing the house, to resolve (I looked at a few houses yesterday), to joy that the deal is going through. Last night sleep did not come easy. I couldn't go to sleep until after 11 (normally 9 pm) and got up earlier today. All the other necessary means are complete (survey, assessment, etc.) and we're good to go on Tuesday. So it the end, I guess I was just playing hardball. The lead pipe was too important to forgo and now (with the exception of the shack/garage) is a clean home, well maintained and mostly updated. The move is back on for Saturday the 9th. We'll be starting early in the event of heat. 9 am @ the storage facility 2208 Contractors Way, Fort Wayne, IN 46818. I'll have student help but any additional is appreciated. We'll have beer and pizza for lunch for those who help. I plan to move a good portion of the loose stuff during the week with my free time (not driving 2 hrs each day) using Mandie's truck so it shouldn't be too bad a move. If anything, come and see the house! Okay, time to prepare for school. Chris
