Field work placement
I'm going to try to keep this one short. We visited Steve & Christine last weekend. They were having an Octoberfest party with live band from St. James in Chicago. Steve Schwalge, Julie, Alice, and Mom/Dad were there as well. It was a good time for all. Unfortunately they are 2.5 hrs away and I left my school bag there. I'm gong to try to deal without it until Christine and Alice meander through this weekend on the way to Ohio (taking Anne and the kids with her for the weekend.) I will be attempting to maximize this potential and get caught up if not even get ahead of the game a bit. I received my field work placement today. I will be serving at Trinity here in Fort Wayne. it is about 7 blocks away. The church has a long history has gone through some struggles over that last 5 years. I will be picking up some liturgical duties after the first of the year. Until then I will be "assimilated" (to use an LCMS missions term) into the congregation. They have about 250 worship on the weekend but their worship in the park during the summer hits about 500 (many unchurched and local non-Lutherans). I spoke with the pastor over lunch for about an hour. I think it will be a good fit for the next 2 years. The learning continues to grow and expand. It's hard to stay with it all but my mind is starting to get into the flow of having to be used all the time in a cognitive fashion.
