Disclaimer of previous statements
I understand that in a few of my recent posts I may have been misunderstood. I will try to make this as simple and explicit as possible. I will also avoid lengthy quotations of scripture. :) Pastors are not holier people, super beings, or extra talented people. Pastors are normal people with all their foibles and flaws. Pastors have been set apart to be servants of God's Word. Personal study and devotion compliments hearing God's Word delivered by one of his messengers but cannot replace it. Remember that prayer and devotions are just like our liturgy. We are returning to God what is God's. With prayer, we return the words he has given us. Pastors are better able to deliver God's Word to you because of this is their God given responsibility. This is not by any special merit or worthiness in them. Take advantage of those people God has called to this vocation of minister of the Word. Respect God's calling to your vocations whether familial or occupational. I am no more special than all of you. I'm just as sinful, full of arrogance and pride. I seek the humility only God can give. I pursue and prayerfully consider the office of holy ministry as my future vocation.
