In the Image of God: Love and Marriage
This is huge. Many speakers from Focus on the Family and others will be at a Marriage and Family conference here on campus. This promises to be a great way to spend a few days, especially for laypeople. I will be there! I'm sure this will fill up quickly. In the Image of God: Love and Marriage September 18 - 20, 2006 Concordia Theological Seminary (CTS), the Cranach Institute, and the LCMS World Relief and Human Care are sponsoring a conference entitled In the Image of God: The Christian Vision for Love and Marriage on the CTS campus, Fort Wayne, IN. This conference will focus on God's design for marriage and sexuality. Though we will examine the sinful distortions of that design and the pastoral care issues they raise, the emphasis will be on recovering a positive Christian approach to these issues, growing out of the Gospel and the creation of the Triune God. The conference will feature speakers such as Lauren Winner, author of Real Sex; Christopher West, author of Theology of the Body; Daniel Weiss, an expert on sexual brokenness from Focus on the Family; Dr. Beverly Yahnke, Lutheran psychologist; Dr. William Weinrich, Professor of Historical Theology at CTS; and more. Practical workshops and seminars will be held on topics such as: How to deal pastorally with divorce, living together, homosexuality, pornography, and other sexual sins How to build strong marriages Cultivating chastity Sexual ethics and teenagers The vocation of being single Courtship, marriage, and parenthood Pre-marital counseling Overcoming conflict in marriage The body and the image of God Marriage, Christ, and the Church Pastors and laity, married couples and singles, seminarians, deaconesses and counselors are all welcome.
