Paris Day 1

Yesterday we left Indianapolis International aéroport at 6:40 pm. Anne saw someone in the baggage check with the same baby carrier as we... although slightly new and improved. We made it onto the tiny 50 seat plane to Philadelphia and made or transfer onto the Airbus 330 whale-of-a-plane for the flight to Paris... leaving at 8:40 pm. Today we arrived in Paris, France at 10 am local time. Luke was well behaved on the flights, crying himself to sleep before they came by for meal, snack, or drink. How opportune! We took a nerve-racking van ride to our airport, led through Dan-Ryan-on-a-bad-day traffic at 85+ km/hr, and no car seat for luke. Fun for the motion sickness! We checked into our hotel, a nicely converted mansion and ate lunch around the corner. Anne and I shared a "salad parisianne" and Luke had bread. We proceeded to walk to the Arch de Triumphe, led by our French host Grégory, my cousin Angela, and their friend Nelly. From there we visited the Champs D'Elysse, the "Michigan Avenue" of Paris. We split up and Anne, I, Mom, Dad, and Luke walked about 1.5 km to Eiffel. We got pretty worn out and it was consistently 30 or so degrees with a mild breeze. The day was overcast so our pictures were only so so. We were going to try to catch a taxi back but ended up doing some shopping and stopping for café and chocolate. We arrived back, relaxed for a moment and then went next door for Moroccan fare for dinner. Nearly three hours later, we're back to the hotel and ready to hit the sack. It was quite the day but tomorrow is even more action packed. We're going to try to get out by 9 am and see the Louvre in the morning, relax for a few hours and then his Musee d'Orsay in the afternoon. Good luck I say! Oh, and Notre Dame in there somewhere! Au revoir! Photos: France Day 1 and France Day 1

Hi to All,

Paris is a fun city. Your description brings back many fond memories that Denise and I have had seeing the sights. The walk from the Triumpe to the Eiffel Tower is a very good walk and yes, you will need to catch your breathe! I have not kept up on the current weather in Europe but it is surprising to see 90 degrees F. We liked seeing the sights at the Louvre but after so many bloody pictures and trapetries, it becomes over whelming and sad. I believe you will see more of the city sights than we have! Now is the time to see all that you can see.
Glad everybody made the trip over the pond ok. Give our best to your parents.

Tom

You did mean 30 degrees Farenheit right?

Chris: Correct! Although a high of 14ºC is forecast for Sunday/Monday.

Enjoyed reading your blog. Found an analog clock link that you can add if you want so we can see what time it is there. http://www.worldtimeserver.com/clocks/wtsclock001.aspx?locationid=FR

Paris is 6 hours ahead of us. Sleep well! Looking forward to your next post.
