Week One (or Week Four of Winter Semester... or 3.5 months to V-Day)

It would seem appropriate to provide a post-France update. In this case no news would be good news. Class is back in schedule. This is fortunate... pushing ahead towards V-day (vicarage placement service in April), vicarage itself and graduation. This is unfortunate since I squandered away a three week break with international travel. So in reality I shouldn't be writing at all but working on the major project due Friday. Or the ten page research paper due to week after. Or all the reading that I haven't done yet. To add insult to injury, this coming week is the annual Symposia on Exegetical Theology and the Confessions from Tuesday to Friday a.m. The I.T. (work) needs are tremendous. I will be trying to attend as many of these presentations as possible (its a "free" conference meaning there are mostly non-Lutheran presenters. I need a little spice in my theological life. Ha!) Plus, classes are mostly meeting as normal. Ugh! I will be preaching next Saturday and Sunday at St. Paul's Lockport (my home congregation) for the first time. Thankfully I wrote the sermon for class in the fall. Unfortunately I'm not too happy with it and I think I'll be trying to do some major organizational work on it this week. On Thursday we had our vicarage interview with Dr. Nuffer. Not much to report here except he concurred an "egghead" (his words) for a supervisor would be appropriate. He's going to work hard on getting good housing for us. We didn't list it as a big priority but he thinks it should be with four kids, a dog, and a cat. Go figure! He tries to place people somewhere they haven't lived before... thus ruling our Indiana and Illinois. He did think my indication of campus ministry might be a possibility as well. So now we wait until April 23rd for the news! We look forward to whatever adventure God has in store for us. Family life is settling back down. Anne got everything put away from the vacation, laundry caught up, groceries purchased, real food cooked and consumed, and began the process of catching up on sleep. Amazing. Somehwere in there she took care of the kids too. Mothers have a gift that we men can't fathom. I'm forgetting something. It would take too long to remember. Adieu!
