Books, books, books

incarnatus est: Books, books, books

Wider and wider they spread, expanding, always expanding, / Outward and outward and forever outward. - Walt Whitman
Yesterday I went to buy my books for next semester. It wasn't a pretty picture! The required texts were something like $250 plus some of the suggested texts are really strong suggested. I've never spent so much on books before. The grand total hit $475. Ugh! Of course it will require the purchase of another bookshelf too. :) Ha! If its any consolation I am looking forward to the courses and I really think the texts are valuable. HT: Pr. Alms

Chris, you're lucky -- every semester of school my books were between $300 and $500. Every one. History and English and telecommunications are not the majors/minors to have if you want to save book money.

I guess I have been spoiled. We reuse texts like the Bible, the Hymnal, the Lutheran Confessions and the like all the time. My complaint is only feigned horror. In reality I am a collector as much as anyone else!

Uh oh. I caught the website address. Is the long lost manuscript going to be published?

If its one thing I can't resist, its a good post-apocalypse tale!

Yes, Chris... perhaps even within the week. Full PDF, and Pete's creating a Flash animation Choose Your Own Adventure-style game -- speaking of which, do you still have access to an Apple II? I'd love to find the original blueprints for that thing.
Oh, and the text really doesn't hold up after all of these years, but it is pretty unintentionally funny.

Ha! I knew it...

It's easier than that. Find a computer with a 5.25" floppy and use a DOS or Windows Emulator. There are Mac emulators too but I don't have access to the drive. Some of the IIgs machines had TCP/IP so you could telnet out and email it. It's a bit of a challenge. My floppies I fear are damaged and I won't get the stuff off anymore.

Let me know when it arrives. I'll blog it.
